Welcome to Post op Doula
About
WHAT?
Post op Doula provides post operative support. I am here to bridge the gap between surgery and when you are are on your own.
Follow up appointments with surgeons often don’t occur for weeks post op. During this time there are inevitably many questions that arise. There are also ways to create an optimal home space that will provide a smoother transition when you come home. These are only some of the missing pieces of the puzzle during this time that can lead to overwhelm. It doesn’t have to be this way.
I’m here to answer your questions, give support by providing valuable information that can ease your worries, give ideas on how to make movement challenges more tolerable in your home, and meet you where you are to create your best recovery.
It really does take a village.
WHY?
I saw there was a deep need for a support service that catered to all people and procedures, not just for pregnant women. I saw how many people were lost, overwhelmed, and could have had a better experience with someone experienced advocating for them. I saw how many people who were alone in the process. I also saw people who weren’t alone, but still felt alone because their support person didn’t know what they needed.
Physical pain can be emotional pain.
I believe that having Post op Doula care during the different phases of recovery are extremely beneficial. I have seen it so many times. Surgery and recovery can feel downright scary at times.
Imagine having someone with extensive experience in the post op process, by your side or just a call away?

Testimonials
- Sandra has the most gentle loving touch. She has an incredible way of giving you confidence to trust your body and its healing process. She has such a gift of explaining your physiological process combined with motherly care that makes you feel at ease healing in your own home. She gives you tools and provides comfort that make you feel so comforted and safe. She rescued me and my daughter from fears of what was happening and gave us peace of mind to know how to care for her most comfortably in our home. She came in as the most valuable asset in the most vulnerable part of the surgery process.

-In the very beginning, the recovery process was extremely difficult and a little bit scary, especially since I got released by the hospital in only a few days. I went home feeling unprepared, and just uncomfortable in general. I’ll definitely say having Sandra was very mentally alleviating and de-stressing. Just having her to talk to and bring some supplies helped me so much and looking back I honestly can’t imagine what I would have done without her. She was so sweet and knowledgeable, and made the entire experience so much more comfortable for myself, as well as the rest of my family. Now I am doing so well and I am truly so grateful to have had such an amazing support system.
Isla Scheibe, Encinitas CA// 16 y.o. post multilevel spinal fusion
-Over the last few years, I experienced two separate accidents where I had significant fractures requiring surgery. The first time, I broke my hand, and the second time, I broke my leg. Both times, once I was home recovering, I experienced a level of pain that shocked me and impacted my ability to sleep or eat. I was scared, overwhelmed, and uncertain about what to expect or how to navigate my recovery. During those early days between surgery and when physical therapy began, Sandra was an invaluable support to me. I had many questions about what was “normal” and when to call the doctor. After surgery for my leg, I was sent home with orders not to bear any weight on my leg for 6 weeks, but with no support for how to get in or around my house, how to get in and out of bed, or how to take care of my basic needs. Sandra was there for me in the hours, days, and weeks after surgery, providing expert care and tips on navigating it all. She was soothing, attentive, and empowering. She also helped me learn how to maintain strength and mobility in my body as I waited for physical therapy to begin, which accelerated my healing journey significantly. Thanks to Sandra’s expert support, I got back to walking and my life much sooner than expected. She is the first person I recommend to anyone who has had surgery or significant injury and needs help in those vulnerable hours days after returning home.
